Well… Other Kinds Of Answers…

Well… Yes, the busier that life gets, the more a blog goes without a new posting. Not trying to make any excuses, a big part has been my fault. But there have been just a few things going on from about mid January to late February of this year. Let’s see if I can’t get all my loyal readers back up to OKOA speed.

Well… After a busier then expected “Retail Holiday Season”, I got to get away for a few days in late January. From snowy foggy cold northern Utah by airplane to sunny mild dry northern California, Just a bit of quick Business and see the Family there trip. Short and sweet, no frills (did have a really neat BBQ Burger at Hooters…Try it!). Just me traveling, one bag, nothing checked, and only THREE minutes to get thru TSA at the SLC Airport. I thought that either I missed part of the check, or the TSA is starting to really get good at what their doing. Return trip home was good also.

Well… Then back to work and home life for quick bit, snow to clear so it can snow some more that also needs to be cleared. One of the truly big things happened at 21:34 on 02/02/09, we got a new granddaughter! Senta is very beautiful and healthy! 8lbs 14ozs and 20.5 inches. Mother and Father are doing great too! Still don’t know why babies have to arrive so late in the day, but that always seems to be how it works out. I got very little sleep for the next few days and even less computer time. I know she is worth all the efforts made!

Well… Just 5 days after our blessing of the grandbaby, Grandma, Grandpa, And the rest of the kids without kids yet, and spouses all meet in L.A., then boarded a cruise ship headed for Mexico!

Warm and Sunny Mexico, The Cruise was very nice, way too much nonstop food, sleeping-in every morning and laying in the sun all day reading books. But at only $120.00 dollars a day, (NO Joke!) an internet connection is not going to happen on board the cruise ship for me until I earning about $120,000.00 a month! $3.65 can of soda-pop only happened once!

Something will be coming about a captive assemblage that we paided for, in the near future!

Well… I think that they make cruises a week long so three things will happen –

(1) You won’t gain too much weight, so you can’t get or fit off the ship.
(2) It might be cheaper to buy and run your own Yacht if you wanted more time.
(3) You will love the trip enough to plan another cruise within three years!

Well… Then back to work and home life, snow to clear so it can snow some more that also needs to be cleared. And of course an OKOA Blog to get caught back up on. I am truly sorry for the very un-planned lack of posts, stuff happened!

So have hope out there, and hope that I don’t get my own Yacht soon.

Well... My readers may never hear from me again!

Did you see this Other Kinds Of Answers…

If you happened to be on the Web, Saturday morning, the truth that any and all website can harm your computer if it is hooked to the internet! So be forewarned and read on…

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"This site may harm your computer" on every search result?!?!
1/31/2009 09:02:00 AM

If you did a Google search between 6:30 a.m. PST and 7:25 a.m. PST this morning, you likely saw that the message "This site may harm your computer" accompanied each and every search result. This was clearly an error, and we are very sorry for the inconvenience caused to our users.

What happened? Very simply, human error. Google flags search results with the message "This site may harm your computer" if the site is known to install malicious software in the background or otherwise surreptitiously. We do this to protect our users against visiting sites that could harm their computers. We maintain a list of such sites through both manual and automated methods.

We work with a non-profit called StopBadware.org to come up with criteria for maintaining this list, and to provide simple processes for webmasters to remove their site from the list.We periodically update that list and released one such update to the site this morning. Unfortunately (and here's the human error), the URL of '/' was mistakenly checked in as a value to the file and '/' expands to all URLs. Fortunately, our on-call site reliability team found the problem quickly and reverted the file.

Since we push these updates in a staggered and rolling fashion, the errors began appearing between 6:27 a.m. and 6:40 a.m. and began disappearing between 7:10 and 7:25 a.m., so the duration of the problem for any particular user was approximately 40 minutes. Thanks to our team for their quick work in finding this. And again, our apologies to any of you who were inconvenienced this morning, and to site owners whose pages were incorrectly labeled. We will carefully investigate this incident and put more robust file checks in place to prevent it from happening again.

Thanks for your understanding.

Update at 10:29 am PST: This post was revised as more precise information became available (changes are in blue). Here's StopBadware's explanation.

Maybe this little reminder from Google, a company that I trust and use most everyday of my life on the web, and I also own stock in. From the little errors, we all can learn so much, in our daily quests to find Other Kinds Of Answers…
